I run 1-1 and group portfolio development sessions in London and Folkestone. This includes A level students and mature students applying for further education in the Arts, be it a Foundation Course or BA Hons degree application or MA Fine Art In addition to supporting the development of a 25 sheet A1 portfolio, we also make a digital portfolio, work on personal statements and provide interview practice. This means it is hands on for the student, we discuss research, idea development and outcomes.
I provide materials for the student to create works in the studio in a range of mediums. I set clear tasks and the projects are tailored to suit the individual's needs and is focussed on their interests, particular goals, experience and current study and practice. The majority of the sessions are in person however some students choose to do a mixture of online and in studio
I am a professional artist and exhibit internationally. I have an MA in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art. I really enjoy teaching, especially supporting students in developing their portfolios. I also advise early career artists on professional practice. I have been a Senior Fine Art Lecturer and International Academic at Wimbledon, Chelsea and Camberwell College of Art working across the board on Foundation (where I was a subject leader of Photography and Time based media) BA and MA Fine Art and the International team. I have 15 years experience working at University of the arts London.
My role as an International Academic was to advise, interview, teach and give portfolio advice workshops to an International cohort. Within this role I traveled to many different countries including Ukraine, China, Russia, India, Canada, Norway, Colombia and Brazil
I therefore have extensive experience in advising students on course suitability in relation to level and interests. I have interviewed prospective students for Chelsea, Wimbledon, Camberwell Colleges of Art, Central St Martins, London College of Communication and London College of Fashion. Within the UK I have presented at schools and colleges; giving talks on portfolio preparation, in addition to facilitating workshops and seminars.
I also visit colleges as a professional artist and lecturer giving talks, and tutorial advice to final year BA and MA students. I started off in Gallery Educational and lead workshops at the Serpentine Art Gallery, Camden Art Centre and Whitechapel Art Gallery. I am experienced in teaching across Fine art, Design and Communication.
